Advocating for Specialty Care
Independent, community practices provide affordable, convenient, quality care to millions of people throughout the nation. Many people afflicted with cancer, glaucoma, rheumatoid arthritis, and other diseases that require the care of a specialty physician rely on providers who are close to home, in their community, to deliver the care they need.
While these independent providers have always been there to help us, it is now our turn to help them. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, certain healthcare policies, and recent legislative measures can have a negative impact on independent providers’ ability to serve their communities.
Fair reimbursement, patient access, recognition for services provided—these are important issues for independent specialty providers. In order to preserve access to community-based care, we have to ensure our collective voice is heard, understood, and acted upon.
Here you will find the tools and resources you need to join the advocacy movement, research news and information on policies impacting specialty care, and access letter templates and write to your legislators.
Together, we will show that community counts.
